Homemade pizza sauce - it's the #1 secret to making great pizza at home! And this super-simple homemade pizza sauce recipe comes together in just 5 minutes with ingredients you are likely to already have in your pantry!

For the best results, use only quality ingredients. I like to use Red Gold or Hunts for the tomatoes, depending on what's available on the grocery store shelves. McCormick is usually my go-to brand when it comes to spices, but I also like Alessio (for the black pepper) and Kroger's Private Selection for the Italian seasoning.

If you want a smooth sauce (like I do), make sure to whisk the tomato paste and tomato sauce FIRST to get all the lumps out.

Then whisk in the rest of the ingredients. These are all pretty standard, and you probably already have them on hand:

    • Dried Oregano
    • Italian Seasoning
    • Fresh Garlic Cloves
    • Onion Powder
    • Black Pepper
    • Granulated Sugar

When measuring the spices for this homemade pizza sauce, I like to use heaping or rounded teaspoons or tablespoons.

Feel free to adjust the measurements to your liking, or add your own favorite spices to the mix!

Making your own pizza at home is pretty simple, FUN, and can save you lots of money! We find that it's better than anything we can get in the store or from one of the local pizza delivery places. TIP: Keep some frozen pizza dough on hand for when you don't have the time (or the inclination) to make your own. See my Make Your Own Amazing Pizza at Home blog post for a recipe to make your own pizza dough, as well as for some great pizza topping ideas!

Pizza is the perfect dish to serve on a Saturday night when the kids are home! Whether we're watching TV, playing games, or building helicopters, it's the best finger food!
